                          Expanding Access. Strengthening Families.
Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, Phoenix, Arizona
                          Grant Partner Since 2023

The Brent Reese Family Foundation is helping women create safer, more stable futures for themselves and their children through its generous support of Fresh Start’s Family Law Support Services. The Foundation's investment funds consultations with licensed family law attorneys, covers Arizona court filing fees, and provides advanced legal consultations when complex issues arise. Together, these services ensure that a woman's ability to protect herself, secure custody of her children, establish child support, or navigate divorce and other family law matters is not determined by her ability to pay.

Nearly 60% of the women served by Fresh Start Women's Foundation have annual household incomes below $25,000, and more than 80% are survivors of domestic violence. For many, legal assistance is the critical next step in rebuilding their lives. By providing access to experienced family law attorneys and removing the financial barriers associated with legal proceedings, the Brent Reese Family Foundation is helping women move forward with the information, representation, and confidence needed to build safe, stable, and self-sufficient futures.

From a Fresh Start Client: “When I came to Fresh Start, I was overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. I couldn't afford legal help, but I knew the decisions I made would affect my family for years to come. Meeting with a family law attorney gave me the guidance and confidence I needed to move forward. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn't facing it alone.” - Jessica

A Message from Kimberly J. McWaters, President & CEO: “When a woman has access to the legal services she needs, she is better equipped to protect her family, secure her future, and move forward with confidence. We are deeply grateful to The Brent Reese Family Foundation for making these life-changing services accessible to Fresh Start women.”

                          Nature Inspires Hope
Highlands Center for Natural History, Prescott, Arizona
                          Grant Partner Since 2025

The Brent Reese Family Foundation's support helps the Highlands Center provide free and accessible opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature, find inspiration, and experience the benefits of the outdoors. Every day, children, families, and individuals facing life's challenges come to the Highlands Center seeking peace, perspective, and renewal.

Recently, a teenager shared that she regularly visits a bench along our trails dedicated to her mother, who passed away far too soon. Surrounded by nature, she finds comfort, reflection, and hope. Stories like hers remind us that the Highlands Center is more than a place to learn about the natural world—it is a place where healing, connection, and personal growth can occur.

Because of the generosity of the Brent Reese Family Foundation, we are able to continue providing a welcoming space where people can explore, learn, heal, and build meaningful connections with both nature and one another.

Kino Junior High School, Mesa, Arizona
                          Grant Partner Since 2022

Kino JHS has been incredibly fortunate to work alongside the Brent Reese Family Foundation (BRFF) since its very inception in 2022. Our shared vision is simple yet profound: we hope to enable a brighter future by supporting students and families today.

The reality of modern education is that the public school system is simply not prepared or equipped to handle all the complex mental and emotional health needs of students on its own. This is why community partnerships are not just helpful- they are absolutely essential. With the steadfast support of the Foundation, we have been able to provide critical counseling resources during the school day, support families navigating varying degrees of need or transition, and truly create a "village" to surround our students.

The grant provided by BRFF has allowed us to partner directly with professional mental health services and bring on a dedicated Community Liaison who advocates fiercely for our school community. The evolution of this program has yielded incredible results. In the first couple years, we successfully connected dozens of families with vital mental health resources, providing individual, group, and whole-family counseling sessions. Recognizing the deep need for direct community intervention, we shifted our focus toward proactive family advocacy.

In just the first semester of utilizing our new liaison, the tangible impact on our student body was undeniable. Through this targeted support, our school community successfully:

                          ● Located a runaway student and ensured their safe return.

                          ● Conducted dozens of student support meetings directly with parents to build stronger home-to-school connections.

                          ● Intervened and turned around the downward spiral of our highest-needs students, providing them with the stability required to successfully promote to the next grade.

The Brent Reese Family Foundation doesn't just fund programs; it changes trajectories. They have allowed us to meet our students exactly where they are—both emotionally and logistically-ensuring that no child has to navigate their hardships alone.

                          Operating Model
